BASIC FUNCTION

This position is responsible for Accessioning all patient samples and preparing specimens for processing.

RELATIONSHIP

Reports directly to the Lab Manager and Lead Lab Techs as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Accessions samples received for testing

· Identifies unacceptable or missing samples, labels or paperwork

· Report discrepancies to supervisor

· Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

· Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be tested

· Ability to determine sample integrity (specimen qualification)

· Accessioning and ability to troubleshoot issue relating to specimen requirement

· Maintain patient and specimen logs

· Processing send-outs to the reference lab and verify the results are received (electronically or manually).

· Helping resolve technical LIS problems.

· Adhering to posted policies, procedures and health/safety guidelines.

· Maintaining inventory in a neat and acceptable manner.

· Participating in continuing education and in-service programs.

· Ensuring the workspace is clean, neat and ready to process samples.

· All other appropriate duties

EDUCATION AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· One (1) years experience as a Lab Accesioner, or relevant experience in a lab environment

· Able to multi task, prioritize and manage time efficiently

· Able to work independently or as an active member of a team

· Good interpersonal skills and communication

· Strong computer skills, LIS experience preferred

· Must be comfortable working with hazardous materials and must comply with all health and safety regulations

· Ability to work independently

LICENSE

Valid CA drivers License

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
